Transitions: College and After, Young Adulthood

Are you having trouble transitioning to college or from college to career? Are you worried that no matter how smart you are, others are smarter or just seem to know things you can't figure out? Perhaps you not sure what to do when all jobs require "experience," or contacts you don't have. Maybe your social life sweeps you away, endangering your goals, or you feel everyone else is having all the fun.

Going out into the world can be lonely. Alcohol, recreational drugs and hook-ups are ways young adults often deal with their feelings. Sometimes that's fine. Most of us have been a little out of control at times. Often the problem is you don't know what's a little and what's a lot; what will pass on its own, and what needs more attention.

Talking to a therapist helps you sort your feelings with help but without everyone shouting their opinions in your ear. In my practice, I listen to what you're not saying, but mostly I listen to what you are saying. You're the expert on you. Together, we can assess your anxieties, separate the normal stresses of young adulthood—which I can teach you to handle better with specific techniques and recommendations—from anything more serious that might be going on.

Maybe you know what's wrong. Maybe you don't. Maybe you just need to relax and talk.
