Senior Psychiatric Social Worker
This position involved a three-tiered work perspective:
Administrative: Coordinated community services to reach both in and out patients of gynecological service of a major teaching hospital. In Director?s absence was assigned supervisory responsibilities related to that position. Supervisor: Social Work Assistant.
Coordinator: Developed interdisciplinary Oncology and Medical/ Gynecological Team approach to maximize total patient care. Developed program planning and implementation systems analysis as support for the overall clinical services.
Clinical Specialist: As senior psychiatric social worker, presented psycho-social evaluations and made recommendations to Oncology Team. Directed sensitivity training for multi-disciplinary staffs around terminal illness. Collaborated with the Hospice on psycho-social diagnostic components of pain. Directed, organized, and led short-term and ongoing groups which focused on therapeutic abortion, hysterectomy pre and post operative, chemotherapy, co-therapy with psychiatrist for children?s group of dying patients, and a group for patients with borderline personalities.
Consultant to staff in working with cancer patients with wide spectrum of medical diagnostic progression maintaining continuity of care for in and out patients through use of case and group modalities.
